What Our Emergency Electrician Can Do For You
What Is An Electrical Emergency?
An emergency is typically when there is a real danger or threat to human life. In saying that though it is entirely up to the individual on what they class as an emergency. It is highly advised that if any of the following is to happen you should call an electrician immediately.
- wires burning
- burning smell when you turn on a light or appliance
- smoke coming from a device or wiring
- powerpoint getting hot or smoking when on
- a flickering light in your switchboard
- zapping sound coming from inside the wall when a switch is turned on
This list is not a full and complete emergency list, as stated above an emergency is entirely dependant on the individual and their classification of what an emergency is.
Difference Between An Electrician and An Emergency Electrician
A standard electrician will typically work between 7 am to 5 pm Monday to Friday whereas an emergency electrician is on the call 24 hours 7 days a week. Standard electricians will order parts if needed and will complete the job when the parts arrive. An emergency electrician carries the majority of parts with them at all times to be able to complete the job whilst they are there.
What To Do In An Electrical Emergency?
If there is an electrical emergency in your home the first thing you should do is to turn off the power at the mains if possible. This will avoid shocks and also prevent any further damage or complications. In the event of an electrical fire DO NOT throw water onto it. Throwing water on an electrical fire can result in you getting electrocuted.
If someone you know has been electrocuted ensure that the power is turned off at the mains before going near them. Call the emergency services on “000” and then your local emergency electrician.
