Frequently Asked Power Point Questions
Q. Why is my power point switch stiff?
A. This happens more so on cheaper power points. The lifespan of a no name power point is quite often less than a year. Although named brands do cost a considerable amount more than a no name the quality you get and lifespan pays for itself.
Q. Why are my lights working but power points not?
A. In most homes the lights, power points, stoves and hot water are all on separate circuits. It could be that your power point has tripped its circuit breaker stopping the current to your power points. If this is the case then you need to unplug everything and plug them back in one at a time until you find the troubled culprit.
Q. Why are ants in my power point?
A. Ants are constantly on the look out for a new home. The thing that draws them to a power point is the constant warmth that comes from them. Typically they will congregate around a commonly used power point such as the one the has your TV, BluRay or Console plugged into it constantly.
The way to get rid of them besides extermination is to alternate power plugs from the one you’re currently using. This way the heat source will be gone and they will go in search somewhere else.
Q. Where is the best place for a power point in my bathroom?
A. Typically the best place will be near your bathroom vanity and at least 300mm away from the edge of the vanity basin. This is to avoid any water from making its way into the power point.
